I’ve always been interested in body art as a form of self expression. I’d seen Henna many times, in many different venues (those peeps at Wonderland, at a Hindu wedding, in the media, etc.) and was always very intrigued. I am also the type of artist who has no problem drawing on myself (a trait that my mom was never too happy about).
Having tattoos and piercings of my own, it seemed only natural that at some point I would find a way to share this with others. I began searching for training and assistance. There are tons and tons of Henna resources (check out Henna Page) but I’m an experiential learner.
I found Henna by Holly and it mentioned that she has done workshops! So I emailed to see when the next one might be and waited. After a few weeks I got an email, late-ish at night, telling me that Larissa was coming from New Brunswick for Henna Chai (a Henna conference in Toronto) and wanted to teach a workshop! I checked out Larissa’s website (Dragonfly Designs Henna) and was soo impressed that I instantly began talking it out with Steve and registered at midnight!
The moment the workshop began I knew it was totally right. I had butterfly’s listening to the stories of the ladies in the group as their interests were so similar to mine! Larissa and Holly were fantastic teachers and I took so much away from it!
Now I’m desperately seeking skin to practice on! Interested in Henna? Ask me about your free or discounted first sitting!
